School Reunion
So tonight I am heading off to my high school reunion.
Mmmmmmmm!
I am actually looking forward to it. 23 years out for me.
25 for most (I was one of 24 that stuck it through to the end, in the country town where I lived).

Here is a photo of myself; I lifted it from a high school friend who has posted some old photos on Facebook.
Funny thing about high school - I always thought I was FAT.
What was that about!!??!!

I am looking forward to seeing everyone, and hearing their life stories. And I may post some photos in the coming week.

Where are the Waitangi Day photos?

Waitangi Day is New Zealand's annual celebration of the signing of the Waitangi Treaty in the Bay of Islands on 6 February 1840. The Treaty was signed after the declaration of independence by northern Maori Chiefs and British Crown Representatives in 1835. The signing of the Waitangi Treaty gave the British sovereignty while guaranteeing Maori land rights. The British ruled colony of New South Wales (Australia) initially controlled New Zealand from the early 1800's until 1840 when New Zealand became a separate entity. Many people consider the Treaty to be the foundation of modern New Zealand society. As a result, Waitangi Day has been a national holiday in New Zealand since 1974.

OK, so I am a long way behind. Here we are celebrating Waitangi Day...

Of course the night ended with the Haka.

A haka is a traditional dance form of the Māori of New Zealand . It is a posture dance with shouted accompaniment, performed by a group.

Life has been a whirlwind...
I've begun work full time, which means I have been:

* reading lots of young adult fiction, so I know the books my class are reading* marking lots of work * driving my own children to this and that...hence no blogging!!

Why I am moving to Tasmania... and other bits and pieces about the last two weeks

Well, I know some in the Northern Hemisphere have had the largest snow fall in the past 18 years, but spare a thought for us down here.

Sydney has been revolting (as has Melbourne and Adelaide... maybe more so), and there is more to come.
The forecast for this weekend? 42°C (That is 107.6°F)
Aaaaaggggggggggghhhhhhhhhh!!!

We celebrated Australia Day at Richard and Tanya's place...

and the boys finished up by watching Top Gear in the comfort of an air conditioned room.

We stayed at Avoca over the weekend and swam in the crystal clear, refreshing ocean.

And I've been back at work for two weeks.

Absolutely depressing when you can smell the sweat on yourself by 9am because you have walked 200m across the playground!
